6 Days 5 Nights Samburu, Nakuru & Mara safari

 This trip is magical: After lots of birdlife and wildlife at Samburu National reserve and Lake Nakuru National Park, you will spend about one hour in one of the days in Maasai Mara silently floating over the savannah in a hot air balloon and it will fill you with enough memories to last a lifetime. You take off in the wee hours of the morning; float in the sky, drifting with the whim of the wind, overlooking the plains, just in time to experience a breathtaking sunrise and catch a bird’s eye view of the reserve makes your Kenyan safari a destination not worth forgetting.

Day 1: Nairobi– Samburu National Reserve
You will be picked at a Nairobi hotel/ residence by our representative and depart for Samburu National Reserve National through central Kenya as you enjoy the spectacular views of the Kikuyu settlements and coffee plantations, proceeding north across the equator to the rugged landscapes of Samburu National Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch. After lunch, explore the Samburu National Reserve located within the lands of the colorful Samburu people, close relatives of the Maasai, and which harbors a number of wildlife species rarely found elsewhere in many numbers. These include Grevy zebra, the reticulated giraffe and the Beisa oryx all species found only north of the equator. Return to the lodge in the evening and check in to your room; take some time to enjoy the beautiful setting of the northern Kenya landscape. Complete the day with sumptuous dinner and overnight at the lodge. Full board.

Day 2 : Samburu National Reserve
After breakfast, a full day of morning and afternoon game drives are planned for you. Your guide will display and explain the majesties of the reserve such as Ewaso Nyiro River which rises some hundreds of kilometres to the west on the foothills of the Aberdares and which vanishes beyond Samburu in the recesses of the Lorian Swamp. Animals commonly seen in Samburu National Reserve include elephants, lions, cheetahs, gerenuks, buffalos, grants gazelles, giraffes, dikdiks and waterbucks. There are over 350 varieties of birds. These include the famous Somali Ostriches (distinguished by their unique purple/blue legs during mating season), kingfishers, humming birds, eagles, guinea fowls and vultures. Optional activites include a visit to a local Samburu village, camel riding and guided nature and bird walks. Guests return to the lodge late afternoon and complete the day with sumptuous dinner and overnight at lodge.

Day 3: Samburu – Nakuru National Park.
Early morning breakfast, enroute game drive as you proceed to world famous lake Nakuru National park arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. As you drive to the lodge, guest will have the opportunity to experience the vegetation and feel the calmness of Lake Nakuru from a distance. After lunch depart for a game drive as the park is home to stunning flocks of lesser flamingos which literary turns the lake shores into a magnificent pink stretch, here most birds that breed in the lakes Alkaline waters can be seen (over 450 species of birds) and wildlife are also common here. This lake offers one of the world's most spectacular wildlife sights that of brilliant pink flamingos as far as the eye can see. Apart from the flamingos, Lake Nakuru is one of the best places to view leopards, black rhinos and lions. The park also has large sized python snakes that inhabit the dense woodlands, and can be seen crossing the tracks or dangling from trees. Overnight at the lodge: Full Board

Day 4: Nakuru – Maasai Mara Game reserve
Early morning breakfast, later check out from the hotel and set off for the highlight of your trip to the world famous Maasai Mara.  You drive past extinct volcanoes on the bottom of the Rift Valley floor as you depart Maasai Mara rated Seventh wonder of the world. The horizon fills Maasai Mara with 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebras and 500,000 Thompson’s gazelle, followed closely by Africa’s great predators such as the lions, cheetahs, hyenas etc.  Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. Later proceed for an afternoon game drive in Kenya's most popular game reserve. Everything about this reserve is outstanding. The wildlife is abundant and the gentle rolling grasslands ensure that animals are never out of sight. Birds too are prolific. Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, Topi and Eland and many more species of plains' game offer a rich choice of food for the dominant predators; lion, leopard and cheetah which hunt in this pristine wilderness. In the Mara River, hippo submerges at the approach of a vehicle only to surface seconds later to snort and boast their presence. Seemingly, the drowsy crocodile sunbathe on the riverbanks, mouth agape, and waiting with subtle cunning for prey at which to strike with lightning swiftness. Overnight at the lodge: Full Board

Day 5: Maasai Mara Game reserve Balloon safari
Your sound sleep will be interrupted around 5am, when you will be collected from your accommodation and driven to the launch site. After your briefing, you can watch the inflation of your balloon. Then you are loaded aboard, for take off at around 6:15am. The balloon takes off and rises into the early morning sky as the sun is rising on the horizon. Soon you will be high in the air drifting over the savannah and feel a million miles from the world that you know. Suspended in a basket beneath the colorful canopy, you are in for a game-viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective on a one hour flight over the Maasai Mara, the land of breathtaking scenery. The thing that amazes most first-time balloonists is the absolute stillness, the silence as you float above the plains, the forest and the rivers of the Maasai Mara.  One of the most fascinating ways to see Kenya's Maasai Mara is from a Hot-Air Balloon. Elephants, Giraffes, Hippos, Lions and many other animals living in this part of Africa are a superb bonus to the experience of hot-air ballooning in Kenya. This is an exhilarating sight to observe the animals in an undisturbed environment. It's traditional to climax a Balloon trip with a luxurious bush champagne breakfast served on tables set out on the savannah. Mid-day relaxation, after lunch you will proceed for an afternoon game drive. Overnight at the lodge: Full Board

Day 6: Departure
Early morning game drive, later return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast check out from the hotel and depart to Nairobi to connect for your flight back home.
